2. Hydra for Managers Workshop

Description:
A workshop given at the 2014 Open Repositories held in Helsinki. The Hydra for Managers workshop will enable repository managers and curators of digital collections to learn about the Hydra Project, encompassing both the community and the technical development. Focusing on the community primarily, topics covered will include an exploration of how Hydra fits local use cases, how to work with Hydra as a repository, and how to engage with the community to serve local needs and the sustainability Hydra going forward. The workshop will run for 90 minutes and will comprise a mixture of presentations and time to discuss questions raised by attendees. The workshop will be led by established Hydra Partners with different perspectives on using Hydra from differently-sized institutions.

4. Samvera for AULs: how the Samvera Community can be part of your digital strategy

Description:
* A knowledge of the Samvera Community, how it is structured and how it operates * A detailed appreciation of the Samvera vision statement and key elements within this to showcase how they can be of benefit to a library's strategic planning and delivery * An understanding of the ways in which library staff can engage and benefit from participation in the Samvera Community, exploring the benefits of broader involvement with colleagues beyond a local library * An insight into the ways that technical developments within the Samvera Community can support digital strategy * An appreciation of the ways that Samvera can support digital content management requirements and connect different areas of library activity The aim of this workshop is to provide a space where senior staff involved in strategic planning can be introduced to Samvera and the Community, to hear about how Samvera can make a positive contribution to their digital strategy and how to make this work for them and their staff. The content of the workshop will be akin to the Introduction to Samvera session that has run before, but will be additional to this and focused specifically on addressing the strategic benefits that AUL and senior staff in organisations seek when engaging with external initiatives. Attendees are encouraged to make use of this workshop to discover what makes Samvera tick and how this can align with local strategic planning. Alongside content delivery there will be a focus on discussion and questions to help identify what the Samvera Community can offer, and what it needs to offer, to meet local requirements. 5. Building open source audiovisual collections management systems on Samvera

Description:
Building and using an open source community-supported system to manage audiovisual materials for a digital archive/library has many advantages and challenges. Being able to dictate the features, have a system speak to specific needs, and have staff on hand that can change or fix problems is certainly appealing. Embarking on this effort with an established open community, such as Samvera, has the advantages of a robust community of developers and service vendors to turn to for help. Managing needed customisations to core code base, keeping track of updates and contributing to the community, however, is challenging. For WGBH, a public television station with a robust 60-year archive, most customisations are due to the use PBCore to structure the metadata of the audio-visual items. This paper focuses on WGBH’s efforts to build a system for its Media Library and Archives based on the Samvera digital repository framework and its Hyrax and Avalon Media System ‘products’. and Abstract

6. Final Report of the Samvera Fundraising Working Group

Description:
The Fundraising Working Group was chartered at the behest of Partners. It was to investigate the idea of seeking sponsorship for Samvera’s annual Connect conference, to manage Samvera’s 2019 fundraising appeal to Partners, and to investigate how Samvera might create a much greater annual income in order to support the hiring of staff.
