4. Avalon’s Audiovisual Work in Hyrax: It’s about time

A lightning talk at Samvera Virtual Connect 2018 described thus and Avalon Media System is working towards a release to integrate with Hyrax in support of time-based media formats. This includes creating a Work type to support the needs of audio and video formats and provide an upgrade path for those who have been using Avalon in it’s previous releases as a standalone Samvera product. 5. Searching for Sustainability – Avalon in the Samvera Community

This presentation will focus on Northwestern University and Indiana University’s continued work toward a sustainable model for support, maintenance, and development of the Avalon Media System - an open-source, Samvera-based repository for audio and video jointly developed since 2011. 6. Creating javascript components to provide rich user experiences for search and browse

Modern javascript frameworks like React and Vue facilitate building dynamic, rich user interfaces (like thematic sites or research tools). In this lightning talk, we'll show how we each built search components using these frameworks which use the Blacklight API but not the Blacklight UI. 10. Build a Simple Media-streaming Rails App

streaming media protocols and their differences, file formats and codecs, Slides from an on-line workshop given at Samvera Connect 2020 On-line described thus, This workshop will provide a general overview of streaming media technologies and applications, as well as a hands-on portion where participants will configure a simple Rails application with a streaming server. Topics will include a brief overview of commonly used streaming servers and applications, both local and cloud-hosted, and and browser support. The workshop component will include a walk-through of setting up Nginx as a streaming server, building a Rails app with stream security and authorization. Docker containers will be provided.
