- Description:
- A recording of a presentation at Samvera Connect 2018 described thus and Panelists from Duke University, Indiana University, and the University of Michigan will share their experience of developing a Research Data Repository based on Hyrax 2. They will discuss what worked out-of-the-box, what was customized, future directions, lessons learned to date from working together, and contributing back to the Hyrax community. 4. Searching for Sustainability: Avalon in the Samvera Community
- Description:
- Community and Sustainability", described thus, A presentation at Samvera Connect 2019, originally titled "Avalon Media System, and Over the last two years, the Avalon Media System team at the libraries of Indiana University and Northwestern University has worked toward developing a model of sustainability for a large open source project as part of a grant funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). As the grant comes to a close, the Avalon team will review the efforts undertaken over the course of the two-year cycle, discussing the challenges faced by the Avalon team, as well as points of success. The Avalon team will reflect upon the experience and how opportunities provided by the grant to take on new technical changes to the system, develop code in partnership, work toward better integration with the the larger Samvera community, and develop a smaller, focused community of Avalon users and stakeholders all pointed us toward how Avalon will proceed in the years going forward. The presentation will focus on our path forward focusing on Avalon on Hyrax, new features in recent releases, additional new features being developed on the current code base, and the challenges of aligning complex projects.

5. Final Report of the Samvera Fundraising Working Group

- The Fundraising Working Group was chartered at the behest of Partners. It was to investigate the idea of seeking sponsorship for Samvera’s annual Connect conference, to manage Samvera’s 2019 fundraising appeal to Partners, and to investigate how Samvera might create a much greater annual income in order to support the hiring of staff. This is the Working Group's final report.

9. Avalon Update 2018: Reimagining Avalon in the Samvera Community
- Description:
- Avalon will demonstrate how an initial plan to re-architect Avalon Media System utilizing the Hyrax stack has paired with efforts to ensure greater sustainability of both Avalon and Samvera as framework and community. Following that goal, the past year the Avalon team has made terrific strides toward the development of Avalon 7, in part through community collaborative work with Hyrax and Samvera teams. Additionally, we'll cover work aimed at preservation and scaled hosting of Avalon, as well as a range of activities including IIIF development for audiovisual media, collaborations with Avalon users, new features such as OHMS integration, our participation in community interest and working groups, and our efforts at outreach to find and assist new and potential users.
